Shamanic Dreaming

In many indigenous languages, the word for shaman means "one who dreams," implying one who dreams strong, one who dreams true, one who has unusual access to healing and energy through dreaming.  In this high-energy weekend of adventure, we'll learn the core techniques in the shaman's way of dreaming, including:

--The art of dream travel: how to journey smoothly beyond the body into other times and other dimensions

--Dream reentry: using personal dream images as portals to multidimensional reality

--Tracking: entering a partner's dreamspace (with permission!) to bring guidance and healing

--Timefolding: scouting the possiblee future and visiting other life experiences

--Shapeshifting: journeying with the animal powers

--Dream enactment: developing personal rituals and spontaneous art to celebrate the powers that speak to us in dreams

We'll share wonderful sacred teaching stories and travelers' tales and learn how -- like authentic shamans -- we can work with dream energy to become "poets of conscious," capable of shapeshifting reality and living a life of natural magic.

Dreaming a Life with Heart

The voice of the heart calls us to live from our deeper life purpose and manifest our best and bravest dreams. The heart center is where we find courage to face life’s challenges, move beyond self-limiting beliefs and take the creative leap that can fill our world with magic and healing. The heart center is also where we experience joy, and pain, most deeply.

The voice of the heart is sometimes swamped by the noisy clutter of everyday life and the racket of other people who are forever trying to tell us who we are and what we can and can not do. We may try to silence that voice because we are scared of being hurt if we open to the truth of our strongest emotions. In this exciting new workshop, we will grow a safe and healing space where we can open our hearts and reclaim the vital energy of the selves we have lost through trauma or heartbreak or refusing to follow our heart’s deepest desires. We will find our True North, our life’s flawless compass, in the thinking of the heart, so much wiser than the calculations of the head.

With the help of the powerful techniques of Active Dreaming we will grow visions of possibility for ourselves and for others, and gather hummingbird medicine: the ability to stay steady and heart-centered in the midst of constant motion. We’ll improvise spontaneous ritual, performance and expressive art to honor our visions, and will help each other to find the energy and resources to live the path with heart – the only path worth following.

Reclaiming the Ancient Dreamways

In this powerful workshop, we’ll learn to requicken in our lives ways of seeing and healing and living a path with heart that were shared by the wise and ancient ones of all traditions, the ones who knew that the dreamworld is a real world. They knew that dreams show us what the soul wants, and open roads for the soul to come home, on both sides of physical death.

They knew that dreaming is fundamentally not about sleeping but about waking up to a deeper world and a deeper purpose. When we go dreaming – in night travels and in conscious journeying – we step through the curtain of our consensual hallucinations and encounter the powers and inhabitants of multidimensional reality. Through the play of chance and coincidence, the forces of the deeper world reach through the curtain to prod or tickle us awake.

We’ll learn from the ancient ones that conscious dreaming and navigating by synchronicity are the dreamer’s way of marrying the worlds, and that taking the right action to honor dreams is practical magic of a high order. Real magic is the art of reaching into a deeper reality and bringing gifts from it into the physical world. This is what we do when we honor dreams, and the powers that speak through dreams.

Advanced Shamanic Retreats (spring and fall, BY INVITATION)

gorespring.gif (19147 bytes)We’ll gather on the mountain where the Deer has brought us deep healing and insight, and the garnet energy has helped us move into deep communion with the Earth and the nurturing wisdom of the Great Mother. This is the time and place where we push the envelope, develop new rituals and techniques, reopen the bridges between the worlds, and apply our skills as shamanic trackers and dream explorers to find ways to heal and protect our world. We renew our commitment to defend the Earth and to serve as dream ambassadors, dream pilots and dream healers, bringing the gifts of dreaming to those who are in need of a dream in our time, in our world. We rekindle the deep fires of our sacred circle, and harness the Dragon power for the purposes of Love and Light.

During  a seminal gathering in the fall of 1998, Robert wrote this invocation:

To the Deer of the Mountaindeer-garnet_hill.jpg (2601 bytes)

 Deepheart, mountain guardian
Who harries the hunter
And knows what belongs to us
    and what does not
Give us your speed
Your power to read the land
Your ability to see beyond the obvious,
to sense what is around and behind us.
May we grow with the seasons
    into your branching wisdom,
Putting up antlers as taproots into the sky
to draw down the power of Heaven,
Walking as living candelabra:
Bearers of Light
Touching each other with tines of Light
Probing deep in the wounded places
To heal and make whole,
Crowned with Light
Crowning each other with Light.

The Return of the Seer: A Necessary Future

Dreaming is both an engine of human evolution, and a survival school.

In the West, despite all our technology, we are constantly being blindsided by major new events that shatter our previous view of the possible.  To better predict and prepare for the future, in our lives and in our world, we need to revive the arts of the dream seer.

In this powerful new training, we’ll learn both ancient and original techniques of seership, including some that were practiced by Joan of Arc and the tree seers of early Europe. We’ll learn how to screen and discern messages about the possible future that come through dreams, intuitive states and the sign language of the world. We’ll practice dream tracking, learn to travel across time and space and dimensional boundaries and bring back reliable information – and play fabulous games of shamanic hide-and-seek. We’ll learn to focus and direct inner sight and practice mind expansion, cleansing and expanding the field of inner vision until what we need to know is brought inside it.

Please note: This program is offered both as a one-day advanced workshop and as a five-day intensive training.
