IV. A Switzerland of the Mind

 Dreamland is not in the world of BS.

Unfortunately, it could probably not have come into being without the Singularity that nearly ended the long experiment with human consciousness on the planet. The devastating events associated with the Singularity do not need to be recalled here. The prophet of the Longhouse People called this “The Day Great Turtle Rose to Shake Humans Off Her Back”. The memory is scored deep in the collective psyche and will never be erased, though in the world outside Dreamland, Big Pharma is up to its old games, mass-producing drugs that suppress memory and dreaming on the pretext of correcting TTSD (trans-temporal stress disorder). Such medications are banned in Dreamland, along with hallucinogens and oneiric enhancement drugs.

The precise location of Dreamland will not be given here, to discourage speculation in real estate. [Analyst’s note: This sentence is obviously BS; see report below.] But it is not necessary to conceal the special link between Dreamland and the Commonwealth of Oz, renowned for its native Dreamers. The Ozzies were better prepared for the Singularity than other national entities because of their remarkable and prescient investment in huge desalinization programs, so that what remains of a continent that was once mostly desert  is now green.

      Dreamland is not the official name of the commonwealth of Dreamers, though they are happy for others to use it. The major world powers are all bound by treaty to defend its status as a Protected Territory that must remain neutral in all international disputes: a Switzerland of the mind.

       Dreamland has no military forces. However, it has a corps of Watchers that includes a Fighter Wing, trained in advanced methods of psychic combat, that must always be commanded by a woman.

       In place of a constitution, Dreamland has a charter that the founders titled

             RULES FOR HERDING CATS

         One of the rules reads as follows:

 When a decision is required on a matter of community importance, the people must come together in the Big House and make a web.

       In the first years of Dreamland, when the community was small, there was only one Big House, built of very simple materials around a great tree that rose through the roof like a ladder into the sky. Now Dreamland has many Big Houses, but the making of a dreaming web is essentially the same. Standing in a great circle at nightfall as they sing songs of Earth, the weavers raise the Mother’s energy into the tjurni [11] and share it hand to hand, giving and receiving. When the energy is flowing strong between them, they each project ropelike energy cords to a common center and began to weave and shape the web. The cords flash with many colors, but as they interweave they glow sparkling white. When the chief weavers are satisfied that the web is strong enough to serve the group intention, the dreamers lie down in a cartwheel on the floor. [12]

      Lying together in the dark, with their web of dreaming glowing above and around them, the dreamers sing their group intention, over and over. As they sing, the web grows. It will grow until it has brought within it everything the dreamers need to see and know. As the energy filaments stretch, they may encompass the whole planet. All times are accessible. Years or centuries may slip by, like blown leaves, in the group perception. While the group visions together within the web, individual Dreamers move along its strands, agile as human spiders, and drop down on scenes they choose to see close-up.

At daybreak, the Dreamers share their perceptions, and the necessary decision becomes clear. They say there is no need to count heads when hearts are joined and connected to the heart of the Mother.

 THE MEANING OF ANAMNESIS

 The great scholar-city of Dreamland is called Anamnesis. The name evokes the Platonic doctrine that all true wisdom consists in overcoming the amnesia that comes with the journey through the birth canal, and is deepened by the miasmic conditions of human society. As a practice, anamnesis is soul remembering: reclaiming the knowledge that belonged to the soul before it descended into the body and acting on that knowledge.[13]

     To this end, the sages of Anamnesis have constructed a House of Time which offers many portals for conscious dream journeys to explore the nature of the multidimensional self and engage in direct communication with teachers above the fourth level of the astral plane….[Analyst note: Here the text file becomes corrupt; it may have been deliberately scrambled]
